Rumor: Black Myth: Wukong to get a PlayStation Exclusivity Deal

So, Black Myth: Wukong, you know, that insanely hyped game from Game Science? It’s been topping Steam wishlists since its latest trailer dropped at Summer Game Fest. Everybody’s losing their minds over it. But there’s a bit of drama brewing.

Apparently, the Xbox Series X/S version is facing some delays. Now, Microsoft’s keeping mum on why exactly, only dropping a vague, “We can’t comment on the deals made by our partners with other platform holders.” What’s going on here, Microsoft? Spicy.

Game Science did say they’re “currently optimizing” the game for the Xbox to meet their quality standards. Okay, fair enough. But then people started pointing fingers at the Xbox Series S. It’s got weaker hardware compared to the Series X, and it’s not the first time this little guy’s been blamed for holding things up. Remember the whole Baldur’s Gate 3 delay fiasco? Yeah, it’s the same story.

Here’s where it gets juicier. Jez Corden from Windows Central said something about “whispers and rumors” of an exclusivity deal between Game Science and PlayStation. What’s this now? An exclusivity deal? This sounds like some next-level corporate chess.

When exactly was this deal struck, and is it the reason for the Xbox delay? No one’s officially confirming anything, but the hints are there. Game Science didn’t respond to Corden’s questions, and Microsoft’s response was pretty telling. They’re excited about Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox but won’t spill any beans about the supposed deal.

So, what do we know? Black Myth: Wukong is set to launch on August 20th for PS5 and PC. The Xbox version? Still in the works. Even though there won’t be any microtransactions, Game Science might sprinkle in some “non-pay-to-win in-game purchases” and DLC after launch. Great, more stuff to spend money on.
