There is a special something in Pokémon GO, that is obtained through a special process. An entire mystery surrounding it, but that makes it even more desirable than it already is.
What is a Mystery Box?
For starters, there is a special item in Pokémon GO called a Mystery Box. You may ask, why so much mention right now of this Mystery Box? Well, this special item is going to be part of the upcoming 8th Anniversary Party starting on June 28, 2024, and ending on July 3, 2024, that Pokémon GO will be hosting, so take this as a guide of some sort.
A Mystery box, at this very moment, is a special item that triggers an in-game event with a duration of 60 minutes. During that one hour, Trainers will be able to encounter Meltan. In other words, this is the easiest way to get Meltan in Pokémon GO.
How to get a Mystery Box?
Not anyone can obtain a Mystery Box at the moment, unfortunately. There is a whole set of processes that you need to follow, in order to get a Mystery Box.
- Make sure you have an account on Nintendo.com. If you don’t, create one so that you can use Pokémon HOME.
- Next, download the Pokémon Home App, and sign in with your Nintendo Account.
- At this step, you need to open Pokémon GO and go to Menu > Settings > Connected Devices and Services > Pokémon HOME, where you need to sign in with your Nintendo Account.
- When you finish this step, you can send Pokémon to Pokémon HOME.
- To transfer Pokémon, first, you need to have transporter energy.
- After you select the desired Pokémon, confirm Transport and your Pokémon will leave the Pokémon GO world and enter the Pokémon HOME world.
- You will receive a Mystery Box only if you open Pokémon HOME and receive your Pokémon.
What is the Purpose of a Mystery Box?
As mentioned above, a Mystery Box is one of the easiest ways to obtain Meltan, an extremely rare Pokémon. Plus, during certain events, Shiny Meltan can be caught using this very special Mystery Box. Once you open it, you will not get a new Mystery Box for three days.
If you decide to open it, you will find yourself in a mini-event where Meltan will be all over the in-game map. If you collect enough Metal Candy, i.e. 400 Candy, you can evolve Melmetal. You can’t manipulate Meltan spawns with Incense or Lure Modules.
Mystery Boxes aren’t connected with walking, so this means that the spawn frequency will not be changing no matter if you stay in the same place, or move.
