Ghost of Tsushima Slashes Into Steam’s Top Ranks as PlayStation’s Fourth Biggest Launch

Ghost of Tsushima has just marked its territory as PlayStation’s fourth biggest Steam launch in terms of concurrent players. Yup, you heard that right. According to the trusty SteamDB, this samurai epic has pulled in a peak of 59,244 concurrent players since its launch last Thursday. That’s no small feat!

Now, let’s put this into perspective. Only three other Sony-published titles have managed to top this number, and two of them are from Sony’s internal studios. Leading the charge is Helldivers 2, developed by Arrowhead, a third-party studio. This game has smashed records with a whopping 458,709 concurrent players. Next up, we’ve got the mighty God of War, pulling in 73,529, followed closely by Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered with 66,436. Ghost of Tsushima, with its 59,244 players, is hot on their heels and could very well climb higher as we head into the weekend.

But wait, there’s more. This samurai adventure has already outperformed some heavy hitters like Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition, and even The Last of Us Part I. That’s right, it’s slashing through the competition like a katana through butter.

Here’s a quick rundown of the top 10 peak concurrent player counts for PlayStation games on Steam, just to give you a clearer picture:

  1. Helldivers 2 (458,709)
  2. God of War (73,529)
  3. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (66,436)

  8. Days Gone (27,450)
  9. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (13,539)

The PC version of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, which is also available on the Epic Games Store, was crafted by Nixxes in collaboration with the game’s original creators, Sucker Punch Productions. And let me tell you, the response has been stellar. With 85% of its 4,573 reviews being positive, it’s clear that players are loving their journey through feudal Japan.
