Pokémon GO ‘I’ve Got Your Back’ or ‘I’ve Got Your Wallet?’ Is paid Timed Research worth it?

Trainers, the moment we’ve been waiting for is here: the Ultra Unlock: Paldea event has officially kicked off! This much-anticipated event brings with it a second wave of Paldea Pokémon, 4x catch XP, Stardust bonuses, new shiny forms, and a special paid Timed Research. But here’s the kicker – Is it really worth your hard-earned cash

Dubbed “I’ve Got Your Back,” this paid Timed Research comes with a US$5.00 price tag – or its equivalent in your local currency. Now, we’re all for investing in our Pokémon journeys, but it’s crucial to get real value for our bucks. So, let’s dive into whether this event-exclusive research is worth investing in or if, as some players have wittily coined it, it should be called “I’ve Got Your Wallet.”

Before we go any further, it’s important to note that this Timed Research has only one step. Yup, you heard that right. Just one. Now, we’re all for simplicity, but there’s a fine line between straightforward and skimpy. Unfortunately, this research leans more towards the latter. We would typically list out the tasks and rewards, but honestly, they’re not worth the hype. The offerings are, to put it gently, underwhelming.

Five dollars may not be much, but it can certainly buy you more excitement and better rewards elsewhere in the game. In this case, the rewards are so lackluster that they’re sparking a bit of a backlash.

I’ve Got Your Wallet Timed Research

  • Send 9 Gifts to Friends: Egg Incubator
  • Walk 1 km: Pawmi
  • Use 9 Berries to help catch Pokémon: 10 Silver Pinap Berry
  • Walk 3 km: Pawmi
  • Catch 9 different species of Pokémon: 3 Rare Candy
  • Rewards: 921 Stardust, Pawmi Backpack, and 9210 XP

Look, we get it, companies need to make a profit. But there’s a right way and a wrong way to go about it. This particular Timed Research seems more like a cash grab than a valuable addition to the game. If fewer people buy this ticket, perhaps we can send a clear message to Niantic: We demand better value for our money.

So, what’s the verdict? Unless Niantic decides to ramp up the value here, it might be wise to steer clear of this paid Timed Research. Your money is better spent elsewhere. Or better yet, save it for a future event that truly enhances your Pokémon GO experience.

Trainers, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Have you purchased the “I’ve Got Your Back” research? Do you think it’s worth the money, or are you feeling buyer’s remorse? Let’s keep each other informed, because in this game, knowledge is just as valuable as a well-stocked bag.
