It has been eight amazing years since we have encountered Pokémon GO, and that is worth celebrating.
As it has been announced, Pokémon GO will be hosting an event called 8th Anniversary Party, where we will all celebrate all the moments we have had with the most popular game. It will begin on June 28, 2024, and end on July 3, 2024.
Now, there are many new details, and we are sure we will all have a great time those couple of days.
Pokémon GO 8th Anniversary Party details
Pokémon Debuts
- Grimer wearing a party hat
- Muk wearing a party hat
Meltan will also be part of this event, and this one will be encountered through the Mystery Box. Also, there is a chance you encounter Shiny Meltan. Lastly, Trainers will be able to open the Mystery Box more frequently.
Event Bonuses
- Increased chance to become Lucky Friends
- Increased chance to get Lucky Pokémon in trades
- Friendship levels will increase faster than normal through opening Gifts, trading Pokémon, or battling together in raids, Gyms, or Trainer Battles
- Chance of finding 8 or 88 (or more) Gimmighoul Coins when you spin a PokéStop with a Golden Lure Module
- 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator (valid on June 28 to June 29, 2024)
- 2x XP for catching Pokémon (valid from June 30 to July 1, 2024)
- 2x Stardust for catching Pokémon (valid from July 2 to July 3, 2024)

For $2, Trainers can access event-exclusive Timed Research, and if you complete them, you will receive the following rewards.

Whispers in the Woods Masterwork Research Story
For $5, Trainers can get a Masterwork Research Story named Whispers in the Woods, and luckily for us, this one leads to an encounter with Shiny Celebi. The tickets will be available to purchase until July 3, 2024. Trainers that have had the Distracted by Something Shiny Special Research story, no matter if it has finished or active, can enjoy a few sets of bonuses. Obviously, if you had the Distracted by Something Shiny Special Research story, you are not eligible to get the Whispers in the Woods Masterwork Research story.
